Sauder, Elizabeth Weaver

Elizabeth W. Sauder, 103, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Fairmount Homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul N. Sauder, in 1991. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Lizzie (Good) Weaver.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church. She was involved with the W.M.S.C. of the church and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed quilting and was keenly interested in the Re-Uzit Shop of New Holland, serving as a board member for 25 years and also volunteered at the shop.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra J. McNally, Denver and a son-in-law Donald Reinford, Palmyra, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a daughter Helen Reinford and five siblings: Enos G. Weaver, Aaron G. Weaver, Harvey G. Weaver, Mamie Martin and Amanda Sensenig.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata with Pastor Dawn Ranck Hower officiating. Interment will be private in New Holland Mennonite Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Fairmount on Saturday from 12:30–1:30 p.m.

Sauder, Elizabeth Weaver, 103, of New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA died November 17, 2019 at Ephrata, Lancaster Co., PA. She was born September 20, 1916 in East Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to Samuel R. and Lizzie (Good) Weaver. She was married to Paul N. Sauder, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Sandra J. McNally, Denver and a son-in-law Donald Reinford, Palmyra; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.

Sauder, Lena G. Eberly, 96, formerly of East Earl, died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Fairmount Homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Sauder in 1999.
Born in Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Good) Eberly.
She was a homemaker and a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are four children: Mervin married to Marlene Sauder, Mohnton, Noah, Jr. married to Susan Sauder, Lebanon County, Doris married to Lawrence Martin, Narvon, Dorothy married to Paul Newswanger, McAlisterville, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, five siblings: Alice Horst, Anna Mary Oberholtzer, Joseph Eberly, Titus Eberly, and James Eberly.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Minerva wife of Leroy Sauder, a brother Daniel and a sister Susanna.
The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at Fairmount Homes for the competent and compassionate care given to Lena for the last 2½ years.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel with further services at 1:30 p.m. at Churchtown Mennonite Church with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman, Leon B. Zimmerman, John Martin, Earl Martin, and Marlin Lauver officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Sauder, Lydia Brubacher
August 5, 1933 - October 24, 2019
Lydia Brubacher Sauder, age 86 years, 2 months and 18 days, of Latham, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2019. Lydia was born on August 5, 1933 in Brutus, Michigan, the daughter of Martin Z. and Mary (Brubacher) Kilmer, both of whom preceded her in death.
On October 20, 1955 in Narvon, Pennsylvania, Lydia was united in marriage to Enos Sauder who survives of the home.
Lydia was a member of the Hillcrest Mennonite Church of the Groffdale Conference.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Isaac Sauder (Anna), Melvin Sauder (Sara), Lewis Sauder (Irene) and Walter Sauder (Pauline); 3 daughters, Elva Sauder, Elizabeth Hoover (Earl) and Emma Nason (Clarence) all of Latham. Mo.; 3 brothers, Eli Kilmer of Denver, Pa., Harvey Kilmer (Judy) of California, Mo., Rufus Kilmer (Martha) of Latham, Mo.; 1 brother-in-law, Randy Baker of Joplin, Mo.; 3 sisters, Nancy Ramer (David) of Tippecanoe, Ind., Fannie Martin (Eddie) of Napanee, Ind., Amanda Burkholder of Rochester, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Annie Kilmer and Ella Kilmer both of Versailles, Mo.; 48 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Adin, William and Menno Kilmer, a brother-in-law, Levi Burkholder; and 3 sisters, Emma Kilmer, Lucinda Baker, and Anna Mary Kilmer; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Kilmer and Lena Kilmer; 2 daughters-in-law, Ellen Sauder and Elsie Sauder; 3 grandsons and three granddaughters.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Enos Sauder’s home. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hillcrest Mennonite Church near Latham, Mo. with Daniel Newswanger, Harry Leinbach, Marcus Zimmerman and Michael Martin officiating. Sauder, Rhoda M. Clymer

Rhoda M. Sauder, 83, entered peacefully into the arms of her blessed Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Fairmount Homes of Ephrata following declining health related to heart conditions. She was born April 5, 1935 to the late Martin D. and Mabel
W. Clymer and was the 15th of 17 children. She is survived by her sisters Esther Martin and husband Benjamin of Baker, FL, Miriam Stoltzfus of Carlsbad, N.M., Lois Bender and husband Ralph, of Harrisburg, PA, and Catherine Holt of Ephrata, PA and her sister-in-law, Shirley Clymer of Harrisonburg, VA.
Upon graduating from high school, she served as a middle school teacher before she married recently ordained minister, James Sauder, on March 1, 1955, with whom she shared 61 precious years before his passing to Glory on July 22, 2016. Both were deeply dedicated to Christ's service and were commissioned in late 1960 to overseas service by Eastern Mennonite Missions, with whom they served at various places for 30 years. God blessed them with six wonderful children, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren: Vernon-deceased (1961); Ronda Sauder Weber, married to Randy Weber-Harrisonburg, VA; James Anthony (Tony) Sauder married to Kathleen (Oberholtzer)-Philadelphia, PA; Philip Sauder, married to Aylin (Jimenez)-Miami, FL; David Sauder, married to Ruth (Kuhn)-Elizabethtown, PA; Samuel Sauder, married to Janell (Nolt)- Harrisonburg, VA. Grandchildren: Rachael (Weber) Tayonvskaya, Ryan Weber-Rodriguez, Reid Weber, Joshua Sauder, Daniel Sauder, Stephanie Sauder, Luke Sauder, McKenzie Sauder, Madison Sauder, Montana Sauder, Kayla Sauder, Karissa Sauder; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Both worked tirelessly side by side in evangelism, teaching, and testifying of the Good News of salvation during 19 years in Gualaco, Tocoa, and La Ceiba, Honduras and nearby countries. They continued their ministry throughout the Caribbean based in Miami (1980-84), after which they served five years in the Dominican Republic. Rhoda was able to fulfill a lifelong passion by co-authoring and editing a book about the first 30 years of the Honduran Mennonite Church entitled "Surviving, Thriving & Multiplying".
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. preceded by a viewing at 9:30 a.m. at the Farmcrest Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 1100 Farm Crest Dr., Ephrata, PA. Following burial at Weaverland Church cemetery, friends and family are invited to return to Farmcrest to share lunch and memories together. The family will also receive friends (viewing) on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Farmcrest from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to one of the following: Fairmount Homes Sharing Fund, or Friendship Community. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
Sawatzky, Reynold
November 27, 1924 - April 1, 2019
Reynold Sawatzky, 94, of Goshen, died Monday, April 1, 2019, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born November 27, 1924, in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Jacob F and Cornelia Klassen Sawatzky.
On August 4, 1953 he married Maurine Bauer at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, East Peoria, Illinois. She died May 22, 2013.
Survivors include two daughters, Renee M. Sawatzky of Ithaca, New York and Nila R. Sawatzky of Goshen.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Annie Deckert, Katherine Schultz, Harry, Victor, Benjamin and Gordon Sawatzky, Jack Scott, Matilda Sawatzky and infant, Leonard Sawatzky.
Mr. Sawatzky taught school at various different levels, including Hesston College. He was a methods analyst for Social Security until his retirement in 1982.
Following retirement, Mr. Sawatzky moved to the Goshen area. He was a member of College Mennonite Church.
Burial in Violett Cemetery will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019, followed by visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at College Mennonite Church.
Memorials may be given to College Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee.

Schilling, Robert Gilbert, 87, of Perkasie, Bucks Co., PA died January 3, 2019 at the same place. He was born October 7, 1931 at Reading, PA to John L. and Esther (Weidner) Schilling. On August 4, 1979 at Souderton, Bucks Co., PA he was married to Gail G. Tice, who was born April 25, 1942 and survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Robin E. Schilling and husband Martin Franke.
Memorial services were held January 19, 2019 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, Bucks Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Schlabach, Erin Richelle Smith
March 3, 1985 - October 1, 2019
Erin Richelle Schlabach, 34, of Goshen, went to be with her Lord and Savior at the scene of a motorcycle accident at 8:29 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. She was born on March 3, 1985 in Goshen to Bob and Sharon (Miller) Smith. On August 30, 2014 in Goshen she married Eli Schlabach, he survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband and her parents are a brother, Lyle (Katie) Smith of Fort Wayne; a sister, Lauren (Fred) Unternahrer of Ligonier; grandparents, Floyd and Anna Barbara Miller of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dan and Shirley Smith. Erin was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was actively pursuing her faith which included a weekly Bible Study at Griner Church. She was known for her caring heart for others, a skill that she was able to use when she was a Certified Nursing Assistant; she also had the remarkable ability to listen to people and in her quiet nature offered them support. She was passionate about music and was involved with Life Action Ministries. She often enjoyed walking with her husband and others allowing her to spend quiet one-on-one time together. She was currently assisting her husband with a milk hauling route for Eagle Transport.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, and one hour prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Monday, October 7, at Griner Church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gordon Henke and Lay Leader Tim Miller. Burial will be in Griner Cemetery. Because of her love for children, memorials contributions may be given to The Farm.
Schmucker, David W.
September 4, 1933 - August 20, 2019
David W. Schmucker, 85, of Shipshewana, died at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 20, at his residence. He was born on September 4, 1933 in Nappanee to William D. and Fannie D. (Miller) Schmucker. On February 24, 1955 in LaGrange County he married Mary N. Bontrager; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are four sons, Perry Jay (Ella) Schmucker of Shipshewana, Lester Ray (Esther) Schmucker of Sturgis, MI, Vernon Dean (Sylvia) Schmucker of Leesburg, David Wayne (Doris) Schmucker of Middlebury; five daughters, Katie Irene (Floyd) Miller, Esther Kay (Daniel) Eash both of Shipshewana, Edna Ellen (Ben) Miller of Howe, Lena Fern (David) Bontrager of Colon, MI, Mary Anna Schmucker of Shipshewana; daughter-in-law, Theresa Schmucker of MI; 55 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; brother, Edward Schmucker of Kingston, WI; six sisters, Mary (Joe) Bontrager of Kenton, OH, Fannie Mae (Eli) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Ida (Reuben) Schwartz of Seymour, MO, Lizzie (Amos) Eicher of Berne, Annie (Peter) Eicher of Seymour, MO, Susie (John) Schwartz of Milroy, IN; brother-in-law, Jacob Miller of Medford, WI; sister-in-law, Amanda Schmucker of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Lee Schmucker; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Emmon, Perry, Daniel, and William Schmucker; three sisters, Katie Miller, Emma Bontrager, Alma Miller.
He worked in the RV industry and was a farmer. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 21 and all day Thursday, August 22 at the David Beechy residence, 1365 N. 500 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, August 23 also at the residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Harry Wayne Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Schrag, Verda Preheim, 97, of Marion, SD died March 10, 2019 at Freeman, SD. She was born January 4, 1922 at Marion, SD to Tom and Lillie (Graber) Preheim. On May 7, 1942 she was married to Orlando Schrag, who died in 1987.
Surviving are children, Reed (Susan) Schrag and John (Sara) Schrag; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Ricky Schrag and Mark Schrag preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held July 14, 2019 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Schrock, Allen Jesse
October 14, 1923 - April 27, 2019
Allen Jesse Schrock, 95, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at his home. He was born October 14, 1923, in Tiskilwa, Illinois. Allen served in the US Army and was stationed in France from 1943-1947. While there he became a part of The Conqueror's Gospel Quartet, a group that continued to sing together for many years.
Allen married Doris Reynolds on June 22, 1950. Following Allen's graduation from the University of North Carolina in 1952 he began a career in education, teaching at West Goshen Elementary School, John Marshall Elementary School, and serving as the principal of both Greene Township and North Liberty Elementary Schools. As long time members of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Allen and Doris helped to establish Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen, IN and Community Mennonite Church in South Bend, IN.
Early in their retirement years Allen and Doris enjoyed a year serving international students, working with the Mennonite Central Committee near Paris, France. Allen and Doris relocated from the Goshen area, where they had been long time residents, to Scottsburg in 2008 to live near their youngest daughter. Allen loved traveling, meeting distant relatives, gardening, collecting unusual rocks and creating stone walls. One of his greatest joys was his family, by whom he will be greatly missed and most fondly remembered.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Alice Schrock; a sister, Dorothy Shank; a son, Joseph Allen; an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Schrock and infant great-granddaughter, Paisley Noelle Ringer.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Doris; one sister, Doris Bachman; sons, David Schrock and Paul Schrock (Sally); daughters, Ruth Chupp (Greg) and Naomi Henderson (William); daughter-in-law, Ruth Hochstetler (Kevin); nineteen grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
Schrock, Alvin S.
Sept. 17, 1927 - Sept. 4, 2019
Staunton - Alvin S. Schrock, 91, of 280 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Staunton, [VA] passed peacefully on to eternal rest on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at his home. He was born in Norfolk on September 17, 1927 to the late Simon and Sadie Schrock. On October 17, 1940, he married Lucy Yoder. She preceded him in death on September 15, 2003.
Alvin gave his heart to the Lord in his youth and was a faithful minister of the gospel since his ordination in 1958 in Mt. Zion congregation as long as his health permitted. Presently, he was a member of Bridgewater Mennonite Church. In addition to his parents and wife,
Alvin was preceded in death by his daughter Miriam Ruth Schrock in 2013.
He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ann Schrock of Staunton, Mary Lois Schrock of Raphine, and Sharon Schrock of Staunton; two sons, David Alvin Schrock and wife, Miriam and Phillip Ray Schrock and wife, Rachel all of TN; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Alvin's home. The viewing will be on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Christian Fellowship, 240 Twin Hill Rd, Stuarts Draft. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Barbara M. Schrock, 90 of Goshen, passed away 6:30 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her home. She was born Dec. 8, 1928 in Lancaster County, PA, to Noah & Susannah (Martin) Shirk. On Nov. 11, 1954, she married Raymond Schrock.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond, Goshen, 8 children, Elva (David) Royer, Goshen, Arlene (Andrew) Martin, Goshen, Susan (Irvin) Ramer, Argos, Leonard (Miriam) Schrock, Sheridan, Michigan, Rosella (Steven) Martin, Goshen, Charles (Susanna) Schrock, Goshen, Laura (Vernon) Ramer, Carson City, Michigan, Ruth (Harvey) Imhoff, Carson City, Michigan, 37 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and a sister, Lydia Clemmer, Virginia.
Preceding her in death are her parents, 2 children, infant Ida Schrock, Eunice Schrock, 4 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons and 7 siblings.
Barbara was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2019 and 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at the family residence, 25652 State Road 119, Goshen. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at the Yellow Creek Old Order Mennonite Church, Goshen. Home ministry will officiate and burial will be at the Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery.

Kathryn Mae Schrock, 80, of Millersburg, died at 7:11 am on Wednesday, October 30 at her daughter Verna Helmuth’s residence in Goshen, from the results of a stroke on July 4. She was born on September 5, 1939, in Topeka to John I. and Elizabeth (Wingard) Schrock. On October 29, 1959 in Topeka, she married Daniel T. Schrock; he died April 24, 2009.
Surviving are 14 children, David (Ana) Schrock of New Paris, Jerry (Emma) Schrock of Goshen, Wilma Waterman of Ligonier, Anna Schrock of New Paris, Samuel Schrock of Denver, CO, Daniel Jr. (Lydia) Schrock of Cisne, IL, Raymond Schrock of LaGrange, Edna Schrock of Millersburg, Edwin Schrock of Adolphus, KY, Miriam Hochstetler of Goshen, Sarah (Glenn) Miller of Goshen, Joseph Schrock of Denver, CO, Verna (Eli Jr.) Helmuth of Goshen, Vera Woolf of Shipshewana; 55 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Miller, Edna (Andy) Bontrager both of Topeka, Lucille (Rudy) Miller of Middlebury; two brothers, Elmer Schrock of Ness City, KS, Menno Schrock of Nappanee.

Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 31 and all day Friday, November 1 at the Mark Lehman residence, 66801 CR 43, Millersburg. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 2 also at the Mark Lehman residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Ernest Bontrager and the home ministers. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.
Schrock, Mary Ann Miller
April 27, 1929 - november 26, 2019
Mary Ann Schrock, 90, of Goshen died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born April 27, 1929 in Goshen to William C. and Mary Ann (Mast) Miller.
On February 18, 1950 she married Levi Schrock Jr. He died September 16, 2015.
Survivors include three children, Karl L. (Lois) Schrock of Middlebury, Diane (Bill) Hershberger of Goshen and Irene (Matt) Newcomer of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cora Graber of White Pigeon, Michigan.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Celestia Lambright, Elsie Beall and Alta Berger.
A homemaker, Mary Ann was a member of East Goshen Mennonite Church. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her, especially Mary Ann’s dear friend Patty Miller Ford.

Orpha D. Schrock, 63, of Millersburg, died at 10:10 pm on Thursday, October 10 at her residence. She was born on January 9, 1956 in LaGrange, to Daniel H. and Katie Ann (Miller) Graber. On April 6, 1977 in LaGrange County, she married Olan N. Schrock; he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are six sons, Orla (Krista) Schrock of Orland, Paul (Lou Ida) Schrock of Topeka, Earl (Erin) Schrock of LaGrange, Alvin (Dorene) Schrock of Millersburg, Merle (Loretta) Schrock of LaGrange, Marvin (special friend, Marla Lehman) Schrock of Ligonier; five daughters, Dorothy (Alvin) Hochstetler of Centerville, MI, Naomi (James) Hochstetler of Shipshewana, Rosemary (Gerald) King of Topeka, Louella (Lavern) Otto of Shipshewana, Sue Ellen Schrock of Shipshewana; 35 grandchildren; five brothers, Ezra (Mattie) Graber, Henry (Mary) Graber, Alvin (Anna) Graber, Marvin (Ruby) Graber, Cornelius (Wilma) Graber all of LaGrange; two sisters, Alma Bontrager of Pardeeville, WI, Mary (Andrew) Miller of Greenwich, OH; half-brother, John (Miriam) Graber of LaGrange.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Schrock, Rollin
April 17, 1931 - March 8, 2019
Rollin Schrock, 87, of Howe, IN, died, Friday, March 8, 2019 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
He was born on April 17, 1931, in LaGrange to Andrew I. and Lillie (Shrock) Schrock.
Rollin was a farmer. He also worked in manufacturing for Fan Coach and Coachmen RV.
He was a lifelong member of the Emma Church. Rollin was a member of the NCHA Camping Club and loved to go camping with his family. He had an eye for the beauty of nature and loved to take photographs of scenes he appreciated. He farmed with Allis-Chalmers tractors and enjoyed helping to rebuild an Allis lawn tractor with his son, Scott.
On December 11, 1954, he married Montey Catherine Bowman at the Emma Church. Montey preceded him in death on April 24, 2006.
Surviving Rollin are his three children; Brenda (John) McClure of Elkhart, James Schrock of Wolcottville, and Scott Schrock (Fiancée, Laura Rang) of Shipshewana, eight grandchildren; Julie (Chris) Cline, Kaitlin (Dave) Hart, Brady Schrock, Leigha Schrock, Ashtin Kaminer, Jessica Schrock, Matthew Schrock and Lindsey Schrock, nine great-grandchildren; Isaac Cline, Caleb Cline, Aryana Schrock, Rylinn Kaminer, Jace Rang, Myles Rang, Jackson Hart, Sophia Hart and Kipton Schrock, and a brother; Fred Schrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife, a son, Michael Schrock, who died in 2002, a sister; Nedra Francis and five brothers; Frank Schrock, Freeman Schrock, Harley Schrock, Orla Schrock and Marion Schrock.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Emma Church with the Rev. Gene Hartman officiating.
Burial will take place at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN.
Visitation will be held at the Emma Church on Tuesday, March 12th from 4pm – 8pm.

On April 10, 1949 she married Verton Troyer, he preceded her in death on September 26, 2008. To this Union were born 3 sons and 4 daughters: Martha (Ken) Torkelson of Duchess, Alberta, Lorne (Sharon) Troyer of Ontario, Oregon, Edwin (Susan) Troyer of Halsey, Oregon, Dorene (Dennis) Torkelson of Duchess, Alberta, Verda (Darrel) Friesen of Union, Oregon, John (Louise) Troyer of Lebanon, Oregon and Arlene (Dennis) Clugston of Sweet Home, Oregon.
On November 19, 2017, Wilma married, Harry Schrock, Jr.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Harry; 3 sisters, Mary Chupp, Joanna Miller and Emma Troyer of Ohio; 2 brothers, Mark and James Miller also of Ohio; 46 grandchildren and 136 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: father John Miller and step-mother Sarah Miller; brother, Paul Miller; sister, Frieda Raber; step-sister, Wilma Rose Hershberger and 2 grandsons.

John Schwartz, 80, of Topeka, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at 4:35 pm on Saturday, August 3, his residence. He was born on March 31, 1939 in Grabill to Amos and Sylvia (Graber) Schwartz. On March 16, 1961 in Lagrange County he married Fannie Miller, she passed away April 25, 1998; then on December 18, 1999 in LaGrange County he married Barbara Bontrager, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are four sons, Cletus (LaVerda) Schwartz of Howe, Wilbur Schwartz of Indianapolis, Michael (Mary) Schwartz of Topeka, Myron (Kathyrn) Schwartz of Goshen; two daughters, Mary (Jerry) Yoder of Topeka, Carolyn (Tracy) Helmuth of Salt Springs, FL; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Delilah Steury of Pleasant Lake, Mary (William) Brandenberger of Grabill, Rose (David, Jr.) Yoder of Auburn, KY, Viola (Sam) Schwartz of Grabill, Melinda (Marvin) Schwartz of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; a son, Marcus Schwartz; three brothers, Lewis, Joe and Amos, Jr. Schwartz; a sister, Emma Schmucker.
John had worked for Redman Mobile Homes, Topeka for 40 years and also was a farmer. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

John M. Schwartz, age 91, of Nappanee, died at 5:50 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital from a bleeding ulcer. He was born March 16, 1927 in Etna Green to John L. and Mary Ann (Burkholder) Schwartz. On November 11, 1948, he married Edna J. Slabaugh. They lived in Holy Matrimony for 70 years 3 months and 29 days. They were the oldest married Amish couple in Nappanee.
Mr. Schwartz lived his lifetime in this area. He was a farmer and had owned and operated Schwartz Buggy Shop. Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving is his wife, Edna Schwartz; children, Homer (Etta Fern)Schwartz, Goshen, Larry (Nancy) Schwartz, Ernest (Betty) Schwartz, Howard (Velma) Schwartz, Dennis Schwartz, Etta Hochstetler, Owen Schwartz, Harley Schwartz, all of Nappanee, John (Esther) Schwartz, Bremen; 36 grandchildren; 101 great grandchildren; and sister, Lovina Helmuth, Nappanee. Josephine Schwartz, age 81, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly at 4:25 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Goshen Hospital, of natural causes. She was born on May 28, 1938 in Berne, IN to Noah and Mattie (Schwartz) Wickey. On June 16, 1960 she married LeRoy Schwartz in Berne, IN. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2005. Her 2nd marriage was to Jerome Schwartz on November 28, 2015. They moved to Nappanee from Milroy, IN on November 28, 2015. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

On October 17, 1968, he married Mary Miller in Bremen. Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and a farmer.

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Todd Schwartz, age 56, of Colon, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at his home. He was born October 18, 1963, in Sturgis Michigan, to the late Christian P. and the late Edith (Troyer) Schwartz.
Todd graduated from Colon High School in 1981 and went on to earn his cosmetology license from Ferrari's School of Cosmetology. In 1988 Todd founded Illusions Hair Care and worked side by side with his lifetime friend Ronda Miller for over 30 years. Todd remained in Colon as an active member of the community.
Todd had a passion for music and performance. He toured with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp for three summers during high school and in 2014 he marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Madison Scouts Alumni. To his nieces and nephews Todd was known as the Uncle who could fix anything. He always came around with the coolest toys and was excited to share them. When he wasn't tinkering with a project, you could find him spending time in his beautiful flower bed or reading up on a variety of interesting topics. Throughout his life Todd was a gift to others. He was kind hearted, caring, and always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
He is survived by his two brothers, Dana (Terrie) Schwartz of Scotts and Joe (Jennifer) Schwartz of Sturgis; one sister Sophia (Les) Szabo of Littleton, CO; nephews Nathan (Lindsey) Schwartz, Nicholas Schwartz, Adam Schwartz, Zachary Szabo; nieces Andrea (Gary) Truax, Meghan Schwartz, Alexis Szabo; great-nephews Dylan, Jackson and Callen Truax; great-nieces Alaina Truax and Stella Schwartz; and Sebastian Minshall, who he raised as his son.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Schipper Funeral Home, 308 S. Blackstone Avenue, Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Todd Schwartz will be held at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 29525 Findley Road, Burr Oak on Wednesday, November 27th at 2 p.m. with Pastor Patrick Clarey officiating. A private graveside committal will be at a later date at Leonidas Cemetery.

Sensenig, Reba Mae Boll Snyder, 79, of Ephrata, and formerly of Lititz and Manheim, died peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Clay Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Naomi Burkholder Boll. Reba was the wife of the late John K. Sensenig who died in October of 2005. Her first husband was the late David Clayton Snyder who died in September of 1989. She was a member of the White Oak Mennonite Church, Manheim.
Surviving are two sons: Stephen husband of Norma Jean Herr Snyder of Ephrata, Dwain husband of Sara Lee Martin Snyder of Myerstown, a daughter, Dayna wife of Stephen Campbell of Arcadia, FL, a son-in-law, Kenneth Martin of Hopewell, 21 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a daughter, Starla Martin.

Myerstown - Rhoda A. Sensenig, 73, of Myerstown, was transported to her heavenly home on August 4, 2019, following a five month battle with bone cancer. She was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Esther (Swartzentruber) Good.
Rhoda was born in Lancaster County. She was married to Carl W. Sensenig for 51 years, and was a member of the Providence Mennonite Church, Pilgrim Conference.
Surviving are four children, Liann, wife of Christopher "Chris" Coval of Dover, Lyndon, Lynelle, and Lloyd all of Myerstown; a brother Daniel, husband of Lois (Horning) Good of Mohnton; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray Good.

Carolyn Louise Shank, 72, of Hinton, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. Miss Shank was born Oct. 2, 1946, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Samuel Luther and Edith Virginia Rohrer Shank.
She worked various places in food service and as a meat cutter. She was a member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
Surviving are her siblings, Orlin Shank and wife, Sandra, of Bridgewater, Warren Shank, Eunice Showalter, Dorothy Knicely and husband, Kenneth, all of Dayton, Margaret Wenger and husband, Richard, of Hinton; 24 nieces and nephews; and 67 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Miss Shank was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Ruth Shank; sister-in-law, Carolyn Shank; and a brother-in-law, Steve Showalter.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mary Esther Shank, 92, a resident of Dayton, passed away July 10, 2019, at her home. Mrs. Shank was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Amos N. and Ava Myra Rohrer Eberly.
She was a homemaker and a member of Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 29, 1947, she married Nelson B. Shank, who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2000.
Surviving are seven daughters and six sons, Elaine Martin and husband, Phares, of Dayton, Larry Shank and wife, Lois, of Bridgewater, Becky Knicely and husband, Dan, of Dayton, Joseph Shank and wife, Sharon, of Bridgewater, Lydia Rhodes and husband, Don, of Bridgewater, Everette Shank and wife, Karen, of Bridgewater, Betty Showalter and husband, Ray Lynn, of Dayton, Nelson Shank and wife, Marjorie, of Bridgewater, Frank Shank and wife, Jean, of Ephrata, Pa., Ava Kay Shank of Zanesville, Ohio, Mary Ethel Rhodes and husband, James, of Dayton, Michael Shank and wife, Evelyn, of Bridgewater, and Shirley Knicely and husband, Wilson, of Bridgewater; sisters-in-law, Martha Shank, of Dayton, and Mandell Shank, of Dayton; 61 grandchildren; 159 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shank was preceded in death by four brothers, Marion Eberly, Edwin Eberly, Warren Eberly and Mark Eberly; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mary Ethel and James Rhodes, 3077 Ottobine Road, Dayton, Va., where friends may call at anytime Friday until 8 p.m.

Shenk, Glenn H.

Glenn H. Shenk, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of the Buck, PA, died peacefully in the company of family on the evening of September 24, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle, Lititz, after a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1929 to Elizabeth and Samuel Shenk in Conestoga, PA, and was married for 64 years to Helen E. (Herr) Shenk, who survives him.
Glenn farmed with a team as a youngster, owned half a plane as a young man and flew it, and worked as a mechanic, dairy farmer, and cabinet maker. He served with Mennonite Voluntary Service, with the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company, and as a minister at River Corner Mennonite Church. He loved fishing and hunting, telling a good story, and working with his hands. He was a family man, a good neighbor, kind, gentle, with a wide range of skills. If he didn't have the tool he needed to solve a problem, he made it.
Glenn is survived by his four daughters: Marjorie Shenk (Hermann Riecke) of Evanston, IL; Peg (Lee) Martin of Kimball, WV; Mary (Marty) Sommerfeld, of Lancaster, PA; Alica (Jim) Denlinger, of Lancaster, PA, and eight grandchildren. His eight brothers and sisters also survive him: Arlene (the late Willard) Delp, Mahlon (Almeda) Shenk, Amos (Joanne) Warfel, Janie (Jim) Delp, Ruth (John) Groff, Dave (Ruth) Warfel, Don (Eunice) Warfel, and Elaine (Tom) Stauffer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, at 2:00 P.M. at the New Danville Mennonite Church, 103 Marticville Road, Lancaster, PA. Friends may greet the family at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Interment in River Corner Mennonite Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family

Shenk, Virginia Ann
October 17, 1938 - December 17, 2019
Virginia Ann Shenk, 81, was born on Oct. 17, 1938, in her family home in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is the daughter of Jacob A. Shenk and Lucy Wenger Shenk. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Paul Shenk, her niece Anita Shenk, and great-great niece Clair Magnolia Martin. Virginia Ann died peacefully on Dec. 17, 2019, with a devoted niece at her bedside. She is survived by brother James and his wife, Eileen (Miller), and sister Ellen and husband, Philip (Neufeld). She was aunt to Karen (Mark) Steiner, Ron (Linda) Shenk, Brenda (Everett) Kauffman, and Eugene (Dalyanne) Shenk and great-aunt to Julianne (Alex) Kozel, Justin Steiner, Crystal (Aaron) Martin, and Leanne, Timothy, Andrew, and Joel Shenk.
Virginia Ann graduated from Eastern Mennonite College (now EMU) with a major in history. Her love of books led her to obtain a Master�s degree in Library Science from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. in 1964. She worked in libraries at Atlantic Christian College in North Carolina, Bridgewater College, and Mary Baldwin College. She often rode her horse through Park View and the country roads west of Harrisonburg, and for most of her life she owned animals, usually a horse, in addition to dogs and cats. She volunteered with the animal shelter in Harrisonburg, the horse therapy program for disabled children, and Meals on Wheels. For years she was secretary of the Virginia statewide Kennel Club and a valued and active member of the local Harrisonburg Kennel Club.
In 2015, she moved to the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, which is built on land where she had often ridden her horses. She was an active member of Park View Mennonite Church. She participated in ladies Bible studies, small groups, and Mennonite Women.
The burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at Lindale Mennonite Cemetery at 9 a.m. The memorial service will follow at Park View Mennonite church at 10 a.m. Reverend Phil Kniss, Reverend Paula Stoltzfus and Chaplain Eric Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. The body may be viewed at McMullen Funeral Home on Friday, Dec, 20, 2019, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Shirk, Edwin Z., 82, of 794 Gristmill Rd., Ephrata, entered into rest on Monday, September 16, 2019 peacefully at home.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Zimmerman) Shirk.
He married Martha W. (Horning) Shirk, who survives. Five sons and four daughters were born to this union: Titus married to Ellen Shirk, Dundee, NY, Luke married to Naomi Shirk, Dundee, NY, J. Edwin married to Marian Shirk, Ephrata, Alvin married to Lois Shirk, Dundee, NY, Mahlon married to Annetta Shirk, New Holland, Mildred married to Elam W. Hoover, Dundee, NY, Lucy Mae married to Samuel S. Zimmerman, Penn Yan, NY, Frances married to Isaac S. Zimmerman, Dundee, NY, and Martha Ann Shirk, Ephrata, 51 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Esther married to Ivan Hoover, Narvon.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Linda Z. Shirk, six brothers: Menno Z., Paul Z., Israel Z., Elam Z., Aaron Z., and Joseph Z. Shirk and a sister Suzanna Z. Zimmerman.
Edwin was a retired farmer and had also been ordained as a Deacon first and then as a Minister in the Groffdale Mennonite Conference.
His funeral will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 9 a.m. at his late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Martindale Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Shirk, Ella Mae Zimmerman, 91, of New Enterprise, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at her daughter's residence.
She was born in Ephrata to the late John E. and Katie (Nolt) Zimmerman and was wife of the late Henry M. Shirk who passed away in 2000.
She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Ella was a homemaker.
Ella is survived by five children, Anna, wife of Norman Reiff of New Enterprise, Aaron, husband of Esther Shirk of Granton, WI, Mary Ella, wife of Phares Weaver of Ephrata, Ervin, husband of Barbara Shirk of Hawkins, WI, John Henry, husband of Emma Shirk of Manheim; 33 grandchildren; 131 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Eva Zimmerman, Ella Zimmerman, Vera Shirk, Lydia Clemmer and a brother-in-law, Raymond Schrock.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Esther Shirk, two grandchildren and five siblings, Nora, Isaac, Ivan, Norman and Aaron Zimmerman.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, from 1 to 5 PM at the residence of Norman Reiff, 153 Sunny Ridge Drive, New Enterprise.

Shirk, Franklin W., 85, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, at Fairmount Homes, after a lengthy illness.
He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Emma (Weber) Shirk and was the husband of the late Fannie L. (Zimmerman) Shirk who passed away in 1991.
A retired farmer and tool sharpener, Franklin was a member of Springville Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).
He is survived by eight children, Leon, husband of Erma (Oberholtzer) Shirk of Middleburg, Neil, husband of Elaine (Weaver) Shirk of Crab Orchard, KY, Nelson, husband of Darlene (Martin) Shirk of Denver, Wilma Shirk of Ephrata, Erla Mae, wife of Warren Burkholder of Loyal, WI, Eva Jane, wife of Melvin Martin of Reinholds, Ruth Ann, wife of Glenn Horst of Port Byron, NY, Verlin, husband of Erma (Weaver) Shirk of Manheim; 50 grandchildren and 110 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild; one great-grandchild; eight brothers and ten sisters. Franklin was the last to survive of his immediate family.

Shirk, Martin M., 79, of Narvon, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. His wife, Eva M. (Nolt) Shirk, died April 4, 2019.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Florence R. (Martin) Shirk.
Martin was a farmer and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Short, Doris M. Schmucker, 88, of West Unity died January 12, 2019 at Bryan, Williams Co., OH. She was born January 6, 1931 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH to George and Sylvia (Short) Schmucker. She was married to LaMar Short, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Gordon (Pat) Short; Kathi (Steve) Bauer; Randy (Deb) Short; Lynn (Karlene) Short; Kris (Mark) Griffiths; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim (Ethel) Schmucker; in-laws Arlo (Karen) Short; Arva Beck; Romaine (Don) Beck.

Anna Virginia Showalter, 92, of Harrisonburg, died Dec. 11, 2019, at the Brunk House at VMRC. She was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Broadway and was a daughter of the late Mark C. and Amanda Hege Showalter.
Anna was a resident of Broadway most of her life until she moved to Park Place at VMRC along with her brother, Mahlon. She was a registered dietitian and was employed by Eastern Mennonite University and later by Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church near Broadway.
Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Melvin E. Showalter, of Harrisonburg, Fannie Heatwole and husband, Dwight, of Harrisonburg, Rhoda Wenger, of Harrisonburg and Mark C. Showalter Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Broadway, 14 nieces and nephews and 26 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon and Henry Showalter.
Pastor Steve Estep and Chaplain Eric Martin will conduct a memorial service 3 p.m. Saturday at Strite Auditorium at VMRC in Harrisonburg. Burial at Zion Mennonite Cemetery will be private.

Glenn D. Showalter, age 88, of Quincy Village and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born October 12, 1930, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Amos T. and Rhoda Shank Showalter.
In Glenn’s early life he worked as a farmer and in agricultural sales. Glenn had later worked at Cove Valley Camp, and Shalom Christian Academy. He was a member of the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, where he had served in many capacities. Glenn was a volunteer for the Cumberland Valley Relief Center, Mennonite Disaster Service, and Rock Hill Mennonite Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and family camping at Cove Valley.
Family members include four children, Fern (Edward) Horst of Chambersburg, Eldon (Jean) Showalter of Waynesboro, Darrel (Karen) Showalter of Greencastle, and Phyllis Showalter of York, PA; eight grandchildren, the late Kevin Horst and wife, Lisa, Laura (Rodney) Martin, Wanda (Paul) Schlabach, Duane (Malisa) Horst, Brett (Lauren) Showalter, Erin (David) Carter, Tony (Kristen) Showalter, Kelly (Eric) Alleman; and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and grandson, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elinor M. Crider Showalter, who passed away on December 2, 2016, and nine siblings, Anna Martin, Naomi Eby, Ethel Lehman, Mary Horst, Mabel Martin, and Preston, Adin, Harvey and Paul Showalter.

Showalter, Lena Beachy Yutzy, wife of Omar Showalter, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2019, surrounded by family in her home in Park Place at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Harrisonburg, Va. Lena was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Plain City, Ohio, to Eli C. and Maryann Kauffman Beachy. On June 10, 1955, she married Norman E. Yutzy of Plain City, Ohio, until his passing on Dec. 26, 2000. In addition to her parents and first husband, Lena was preceded in death by brothers, Jonas, John, Noah, Neil, Alvin, infant brother, Leroy, and sisters, Anna Christner and Florence Hostetler.
On Jan. 15, 2006, Lena remarried Omar Showalter, who survives. She is also survived by her children, David (Jewel) Yutzy of Timberville, Va., Lenora (Rick) Bell and Charlene (Robert) Jacob of Harrisonburg, Va.; grandchildren, Ben (Risa) Yutzy, Kristin (Nels) Akerson, Aaron (Andrea) Yutzy, Lauren (Anthony) Troyer, Rachel Bell, Samantha and Adam Jacob; and six great-grandchildren. Lena is also survived by Omar’s children, Ruth (Kevin) Showalter, Indiana, Lois (Roy) Blankenship, Delaware, Paul (Libby) Showalter, Virginia, and Jesse Showalter and John Turner, Florida; along with 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Lyles, Georgia; brother, Eli C. (Katie) Beachy, Ohio; faithful friend, Mildred Hostetler; special caregiver, Elizabeth Rohrer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lena was a member at Lindale Mennonite Church. As a pastor’s wife, she extended the gift of hospitality to many, was passionate about teaching children’s Sunday school, and was active in Mennonite Women. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Lena enjoyed singing, sewing and cooking, and had a passion for growing flowers of all kinds. She also traveled extensively throughout her life including to Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the U.S.
Visitation will be at Lindale Mennonite Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019. The burial will be Saturday, March 2, 2019, Lindale Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. A celebration of life service will be held in Strite Auditorium at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community on Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m.

Showalter, Mahlon Frank

Mahlon Frank Showalter, 96, a resident of Dayton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at his home. Mr. Showalter was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Israel Rohrer and LaRue Zaida (Heatwole) Showalter.
He was a farmer and a member of Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
On July 12, 1944, he married the former Lydia Virginia Rhodes, who passed away on Nov. 30, 2017.
Surviving are eight children, Norma Yoder and husband, Gordon, of Dayton, Lois Shank and husband, Larry, of Bridgewater, Alice Good and husband, Raymond, of Dayton, Faye Good and husband, Allen, of Dayton, Eldon Showalter and wife, Joyce, of Bridgewater, Glen Showalter and wife, Linda, of Dayton, Leon Showalter and wife, Dorothy, of Mount Crawford and Kevin Showalter and wife, Ellen, of Dayton; one sister, Annis Rohrer; 33 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Showalter was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Showalter (Wilda), Warren Showalter (Ina), Joseph Showalter (Anna Ruth), Claude Showalter (Grace) and Mark Showalter (Naomi); brother-in-law, Glenn Rohrer; and two still-born great-grandchildren.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to his home where friends may call on Monday until 8:00 p.m.

Russell Devon Shriner, 95, Elkhart, died 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Elkhart, to Boyd & Alice May (Loucks) Shriner. On March 28, 1948, he married Mabel (Yoder) Shriner.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel, Elkhart, daughters, Dianne (Terry) Hartman, Elkhart, Sally (Ronald) Drudge, Zephyrhills, Florida, Debbie (Chester) Mercer, Granger, Cindy (Gary) Miller, Bristol, 5 grandchildren, Scott Hartman, Monte (Toni) Hartman, Brad (Cheryl) Hartman, Cathy (Jeff) Heitert, Sarah (Mike) Bonebrake and 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brady & Marli Hartman and Abby & Emma Heitert.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Russell was a graduate of Wakarusa High School and was a member of Olive Mennonite Church. He was a farmer, sold Pioneer Seed Corn for over 20 years and also had a business for silo filling. Russell enjoyed having coffee with the guys at Raymonds. He loved fishing and telling stories.
Visitation will be 1-3 & 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at Olive Mennonite Church, 61081 CR 3, Elkhart. Pastor Eugene Bontrager will officiate. Shupp, Jean Martin
December 17, 1956 - May 11, 2019
Jean Shupp, age 62 of Bourbon, died, Saturday, May 11, 2019 as result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Bourbon. She was born December 17, 1956 in Lancaster County, PA to Elmer and Elva (Keens) Martin. She married Rick Shupp November 21, 1981 in Akron, PA.
Rick & Jean moved here from Maryland 5 years ago. Mrs. Shupp was a homemaker and was a driver for the Amish Community. She was a member of Clay Street Mennonite Church in Bourbon. Jean was a people person and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed flowers and her love language was giving to others.
Mrs. Shupp is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Marcus (Charlou) Shupp, Nappanee, Jordan (Jeralyn) Shupp, Etna Green, Lucia (Shawn) Martin, Waynesboro, PA, Melissa (Derrick) Eby, Hancock, Maryland; grandchildren, Elmer, Renee, Javon, Nathaniel, Winston, Carter, Todd, Jenna, Arianna, Tanner; mother, Elva Martin, Lititz, PA; sister, Carol (Bill) Hess, McIntosh, MN; mother-in-law, Janice Shupp, Denver, PA.; and Logan and Levi Brooks, who knew her as Mama Jean. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Martin and father-in-law, Walter Shupp.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, May 14th from 6-8 and Wednesday, May 15th 2-4 and 6-8 at Sandy Ridge Mennonite Church, Bremen and for 1 hour prior to the 10:00 am Funeral Service, Thursday, May 16th also at the Church. Officiating will be the Clay Street Home Ministry and burial will be in Berea Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Sieber, Paul Clarence, 92, of Champaign, IL died February 22, 2019 at the same place. He to Boyd and Kathie (Wert) Sieber. He was married to Martha Meck, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Gerald Sieber, Delmar Sieber, Norma Symns, Nancy Seaman, and Marlin, Sieber; twelve grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held May 4, 2019 at First Mennonite Church, Urbana, IL with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Paul Sieber, 97, of Mahomet, IL, passed away at 8:05 A.M. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at his home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring.
Paul was born on April 20, 1921. He married Martha Meck and were married for 70 years, before she passed away on November 23, 2013.
He is survived by three sons, Gerald Sieber and his wife Yvonne of Hesston, KS, Delmar Sieber and his wife Sandy of Champaign, IL and Marlin Sieber and his wife Peggy of Mansfield, IL; two daughters, Norma Symns and her husband Thomas of Longmont, CO and Nancy Seaman and her husband Dennis of Champaign, IL; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife.
Siftar, Frank C., 78, of Perkasie, PA died November 8, 2019. He was born January 23, 1941 at Allentown, PA to Frank and Mary (Vogrincsis) Siftar. On September 12, 1964 he was married to Elaine “Timmie” J. Mullen, who was born September 3, 1942 and survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Siftar, and three grandchildren.

Slabaugh, Allen
March 1, 1936 - October 1, 2019
Allen Slabaugh, 83, of Nappanee, passed away at 5:03 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.
Allen was born March 1, 1936 to Edward T. and Alma (Yoder) Slabaugh. He was a lifetime area resident. Allen had worked for Slabaugh Tiling and Hochstetler Grain.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Bernice Wimberly, Tyler TX, Alma (Rick) Moyer, Bradenton, FL, and Julie (Keith) Kaufman, Nappanee; sons, Leland (Diane) Slabaugh, New Castle, IN, Harlan (Jessica) Slabaugh, Titus Slabaugh and Nathan Slabaugh, all of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen (Enid) Slabaugh, Goshen, Larry (Katie) Slabaugh and Dale (Ina) Slabaugh, both of Nappanee; sisters, Erma (Loren) Troyer, Nappanee, Mary Ellen (Joni) Beachy, Bremen, IN, and Kay (Dale) Schertz, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Eleanor Peachey.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 at Sandy Ridge Mennonite Church. A time of sharing will take place from 6-8 p.m. also on Friday. Private Graveside services will take place.

Slabaugh, Patricia A. Hollar
May 15, 1932 - November 7, 2019
Patricia A. Slabaugh, age 87, of Nappanee, died at 11:00 pm, Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Goshen Hospital, surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was born May 15, 1932 in Detroit, MI to Guy and AnnaBelle (Mast) Hollar.
Mrs. Slabaugh lived her lifetime in Nappanee. She was a 1950 graduate of Nappanee High School. She had worked at The Dixie, Blue Bell, Mutshchler Brothers Kitchens, Nappanee Telephone Company and Fairchild Printers. In 2007, she retired after teaching piano lessons for over 40 years. Pat was a member of the First Mennonite Church and had attended the First Brethren Church for many years. She enjoyed knitting and music and had done Book Reviews to music with Barb Hall and Evelyn Culp for many years.
On August 1951, she married Wayne E. Slabaugh in Nappanee. He preceded her in death December 9, 2010. Pat is survived by her children, Randall (Jo Lynne) Slabaugh, Nappanee, Carla A. (Ken) Becker, Sweetwater, TX, Stephen A. Slabaugh, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Rodney (Jennifer) Slabaugh, Jennifer (Kevin) Rosas, Erin (Michael) Gomez; great grandchildren, Taylor Dawn Slabaugh, Nicole Kaylee Slabaugh, Faith Anne Rosas, Sydnee Grace Gomez, Ava Grace Rosas. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce Lee Slabaugh.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8, Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 11th at the Funeral Home. Rev. Cami Coffin, First Mennonite Church and her Nephew, Rev. Tom Schiefer will officiate. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Slagel, Dean George
Dec. 17, 1926 - Sept. 14, 2019
Dean George Slagel, 92, Elkhart, died 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at Hubbard Hill Living Wisdom Community. He was born Dec. 17, 1926 in Flanagan, Illinois to George & Clara (Guth) Slagel. On June 18, 1948, he married Dorothy Lucille (Schrock) Slagel at Metamora Mennonite Church, Metamora, IL, and she died Dec. 22, 2018.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Sharon Rose Berkey, Indianapolis, Annette Kay Slagel, Baldwin, MI, 3 sons, David Dean Slagel, Ocala, FL, Paul Allen (Kristi Sommer-Slagel) Slagel, Bristol, Sanford Lee (Linda) Slagel, Goshen, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, Dorothy, an infant sister and a brother, Duane Slagel.
Dean was a 1944 graduate of Flanagan High School; attended Ball State University, Butler University, Goshen College and received his master’s from Western Michigan University. He served during WW II in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1946. Dean was founder of Slagel & Son Insulation. He taught school at Honeyville, Ligonier, Morgan Town and Goshen. Dean was a former pastor at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church, Martinsville, North Goshen Mennonite Church and a member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, where he was a team pastor. He was Sunday School Superintendent of Conference of Indiana.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-12 p.m. (noon) Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, with the service following at 12 p.m., all at Hubbard Hill Living Wisdom Community, 28070 CR 24, Elkhart. Pastor Tim Henke and Chaplain Dave Severance will officiate. Burial will be at West Goshen Cemetery at a later date.

Smeltzer, Doris Arlene Metzler
March 25, 1936 - September 4, 2019
Doris Arlene Smeltzer, age 83, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019, in West Peoria. Born March 25, 1936, in Goshen, Indiana, to Carl & Anna Metzler. She married Walter Edward Smeltzer on June 8, 1958, at Olive Mennonite Church in Elkhart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Roy Davidhizer, and daughter Teresa Marie Smeltzer.
Surviving are her spouse, Walter Edward Smeltzer, and four children, Colleen (Pablo) Fast of Lábrea, Amazonas, Brazil; Kevin (Beverly) Smeltzer of Richmond, Virginia; Carla (Jesus) Cortés of Peoria, Illinois; Kurt (Carol) Smeltzer of Washington, Illinois. Also surviving are five siblings, Gennevive Hershey of Columbiana, Ohio; Carl (Phyllis) Metzler of Goshen, Indiana; Marilyn Miller of Goshen, Indiana; Norma (Allen) Mast of Goshen, Indiana; and Mary (Denny) Lambright Yoder of Lagrange, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren: Natasha (Nicolas) Hayden; Ryan Smeltzer & Kayla (Brad) Matthais; Kyle Smeltzer, Justin (Shannon) Smeltzer, Caleb Smeltzer & Josiah Smeltzer. Great-grandchildren: Fyodor, Serenity and Mercy Hayden; & Vincent Smeltzer.
Doris received her teaching degree from Goshen College in 1958 and taught third grade in Bristol, Indiana, for three years. Later she was a substitute teacher for several years. At 50 years of age, she graduated with a degree in dental hygiene from Illinois Central College and worked as a hygienist for over 15 years. She was a Pastor´s wife since the fall of 1959 through the present. Doris was a big support to her husband as a partner in the ministry and a member of Peoria Christian Fellowship Church. Some of her activities included being a hostess, counselor, home-maker, and co-worker on many levels of ministry. Her hobbies were gardening, quilting, oil painting, and sewing. Many people enjoyed her sweet, kind, loving, caring personality resulting from her walk with Jesus in her daily life.
A visitation will be Sunday, September 8, 2019, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bradley Epworth United Methodist Church in Peoria. A funeral service will be on Monday, September 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the church. A funeral service will also be held at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation a half hour
prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.

Smoker, Barbara B. Fisher, 85, of 97 S. Groffdale Rd., Leola, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. She was the daughter of the late John Z. and Sarah Blank Fisher. She was a member of the Tourist Mennonite Church, Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed serving others in various ways, especially in sewing comforters for foreign countries.
She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are: daughters, Sara married to David Yoder, Leola, Elizabeth married to Mahlon King, Gap, Emma married to Wilmer Stoltzfus, Goodville; sons, John married to Naomi Stoltzfus Smoker, Belleville, Ben Married to Kathryn Smucker Smoker, Jamestown, TN; 33 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded by her husband Benjamin K. Smoker, daughter Annie, son Elmer and sister Suvilla Stoltzfus.
The viewing will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, April 4, at 1:00 in the afternoon. Both events will be held at Summit View Church, 200 Summitville Rd., New Holland.
Smoker, Reuben S., age 92, formerly of Gordonville, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Landis Homes, Lititz. He was the husband of Esther Grace Blank Smoker for over 69 years.
Born in Leacock Township, he was the son of the late Isaac M. and Fannie E. Kauffman Smoker. He was a member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church. Reuben was a carpenter working for various home builders. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and spending winters in Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children: Thelma J. wife of Eugene Sensenig of Denver, James E. Smoker, Linda S. wife of Stephen Simmons both of Gordonville, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings: Naomi Stoltzfus, Mildred Stoltzfus, David, Elmer, Leroy, and Sylvanus.
Funeral service will take place at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service. Reuben's nephew, Milt Stoltzfus, will be officiating. There will also be a viewing at the church on Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Mennonite Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Smoker, Esther M. Friesen, 88, died July 28, 2019 at Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA. She was born September 29, 1930 at Meade, KS to Henry and Margaret Friesen. She was married to Abner Smoker, who died October 27, 2015.
Surviving are two sons, Darrell L. Smoker and LeVon R. Smoker; three grandchildren, and a brother, Marvin M. husband of Elvina Isaac Friesen.
A daughter, Darla J. Benner and siblings, Margaret M. Wiens, Pete M., Menno M., Dan M. Friesen and Elda M. Plank preceded her in death.
She was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church, where she was involved with the sewing circle. She worked with MCC from 1952-1956 in Maryland and California and then assisted her husband in business Abner Smoker Excavating. Esther enjoyed collecting dishes and glass bells.
